Read-a-thon Hour 12

I am still here...hour 12...not much reading happening.  But that was expected with the 3 kiddos and me home with my hubby traveling.

1, What are you reading right now?
I read a couple of chapters of "First Impressions."  It is an advance copy and I really like it.

It is a book about Jane Austen and makes me want to read more of the Pride & Prejudice spin offs :)

Does anyone else notice the difference of men writing romance scenes vs women?

2. How many books have you read so far?
I have read 2 chapters and 11 kiddy books.  I think next year I am going to call this Chapter-thon!

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Still looking forward to Red Hill
Red Hill

And finishing First Impressions.
4. Have you had many interruptions?
Too many to count!!

How did you deal with those?
I go with the flow and am looking foward to the kiddies going to bed - I probably won't make it through the night but a few hours of reading will be awesome!

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
That for a while my 8 year old was really into it and the TV stayed off for most of the day!  She completed a book and she is a serial book starter not a finisher!  So that is impressive.

Read-a-thon October 2014 Start!

Here is my opening Meme

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Cincinnati, Ohio - actually about 30 minutes north of downtown  :)

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Red Dawn by Jamie McQuire, but I want to finish a few books I have already started first.  My kiddos are reading with me so I am looking forward to reading Cupcake Club with my 8 year old and Little Critter books with my 5 year old.  In reality during the day these are probably the books I will be reading.  :)  I have a reading sticker chart for them to help keep them motivated.  We have also made reading maps (locations where they read at like a map and color the picture in or cross them off when they read there).  I may have to re-pull that trick out of my hat! :)

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?carmels and twizzlers and coffee with pumpkin cream!  I have chi tea for the girls :)

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I have been participating in the read-a-tons for about 6 or 7 years - I remember being pregnant with my 5 year old during one of them but not knowing it! :)  I couldn't figure out why I was so exhausted - I thought this getting old is the pits!  Then a week or so later I realized I was pregnant - no wonder I was so tired!  It was a great reason to be tired!

We will take a break at 10 EST to sell candy bars for an American Heritage Girls fund raiser. After that we will reading in our PJ's in a very mess house!  I really think I should change my blog name to Housekeeping Fail or Gone Reading or something :)  Let me know if you have any fun ideas!

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
Everything will be different for me today - after years of only being able to read a few hours I decided this year to incorporate my kiddos.  I am reading with two girs (8 and 5) and a little guy who will be 1 next Friday.  My 8 year old is very excited and can read books on her own but likes to read them together, so I think I will be reading with her a lot.  Though right now she is reading Captin Underpants - not a favorite of mine.  I have been working on trying to get her to finish books vs just reading a few chapters and going to another so we will see how that works.

As a side note, I am trying this new site called bookadventure.com with my daughter which gives you points after taking a quiz when you finish a book.  I have signed up to write some quizes so I will be making questions as I read with her.

Read-a-Thon October 2014

I am planning on doing the October 18 read-a-thon!  I will have 3 kids so it will probably look very different than others, but we are going to use this day to celebrate books and have fun with bookish stuff  :)  Maybe do some book crafts or read with my kiddos.  My 11 month old loves Llama Llama so I will probably be reading a lot of that.  I am hoping to get my kiddos to love reading and love the read-a-thon so when they are older they will want to do it with me!
